I understand, technically, what you have done.

I realise that with this and a different changelog/upstream tarball etc
you can build with the same Debian packaging.

I'm am disputing that this is the right thing to do - surely there will
be other necessary changes for 4.3/4.4 - I don't see what putting this
in now gains us.

If this had been done with regard to a particular upstream tarball we
wanted then I could understand it but these changes appear to have come
from nothing.

Maybe you're just trying to make our life easier - it does sort of make
sense but I really hope we don't miss something through this.
