[Pkg-xfce-devel] xffm4

Ok, it's not a big secret; I have never liked xffm4 particularly. I
though it was neat when I could browse to a samba share with it but
that's about the only time when I investigated one of its bugs that I
liked it.

The rest of the bugs I looked at seemed like stupid behaviour[0] and
upstream has always been reluctant to fix them in contrast to many of
the other xfce upstream authors.

So then thunar came along as championed by Yves-Alexis and won everyone
over.

Indeed xfce doesn't ship xffm as part of their releases now and they
ship thunar instead.

So I'd like to drop xffm from the archive all together.

Does anyone think this is a bad idea?

If we do I would suggest:
	- file for removal
	- put a note in thunar's description something like:
"If you were looking for xffm4 try this instead"
	- ...
	- profit.

Otherwise we could:
	- put xffm up for adoption with the new codebase
or	- package the new codebase ourselves

If we do remove it there could be some call for a dummy package
depending on thunar. I think I'd prefer not but I could be convinced.

Anyway, what do other people think?

Simon.
