If you can confirm this, could you try with:
- using EXA instead of XAA in xorg.conf (I know you may have good
reasons to use XAA, but just in case)
- use export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 before running xfce4-terminal.
This looks like a problem with RGBA window (like xfce4-terminal) to me.
