Yes, by default it tries the default session which is set as xfce and
doesn't exist on your system.

That's weird, I thought it supported session saving. Will investigate.

Yes, the default session is passed at build time too.

Because it's maintained by the pkg-xfce team as the default login
manager for Xfce.
