First. that looks like a tumbler issue. Could you, when replying, use
“reportbug tumbler” so we have an idea of its dependencies status?

Then, tumbler 0.1.22-1 drops ffmpegthumbnailer and now uses gstreamer
for that. Here it works fine for me, but you might lack some of the
gstreamer plugins needed for the relevant formats. Tumbler right now
only depends on the lib. For information, I do have installed here:

ii  gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad            0.10.22-3                    GStreamer plugins from the "bad" set
ii  gstreamer0.10-plugins-base           0.10.35-1                    GStreamer plugins from the "base" set
ii  gstreamer0.10-plugins-good           0.10.30-1                    GStreamer plugins from the "good" set

I guess we might add a Recommends on gstreamer-0.10-plugins-base.

Could you check what plugins you have installed and if installing some
other fixes your issue?
