Package: lightdm
Version: 1.0.9-1
Severity: normal
--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Lightdm does not start Xsession with a user that have empty password in /etc/passwd
Tested also with the option "nullok" in
# /etc/pam.d/common-account - authorization settings common to all services
account required pam_permit.so nullok
# /etc/pam.d/common-auth - authentication settings common to all services
auth required pam_permit.so nullok
# /etc/pam.d/common-password
password required pam_permit.so nullok
# /etc/pam.d/common-session
session required pam_permit.so nullok
As described here: http://wiki.debianforum.de/Accounts_ohne_Passwort_einrichten
There is message in auth.log:
Apr 5 22:52:54 dell-d620 lightdm: pam_unix(lightdm:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=gast
Tested also with gdm3. It asks for "pam_mount password:" and upon pressing "login" button starts Xsession without any password.
