I have the same thing going on here. I get an apparently harmless error
every time I eject my USB flashdrive, but in my case the error text
isn't always the same. Sometimes I get "Failed to mount XXX", sometimes
I get "Failed to open directory XXX", and I think I've seen one more
that I can't reproduce now. Changing volume manager options or just
unticking the box entirely doesn't seem to make any difference. In all
cases, the volume seems to mount, read, and eject just fine, only with
the spurious error when ejecting. I don't keep up on Linux tech very
much anymore, so I'm not sure which files or processes to poke at. But I
can certainly try to test things more thoroughly if someone tells me
what to look for.
