   * What led up to the situation?

I tried to uninstall lighdm from my system but the process gave me this error:

dpkg: errore nell'elaborare lightdm (--purge):
il sottoprocesso vecchio script di post-removal ha restituito lo stato di
errore 1

Errore durante l'installazione di un pacchetto. Tentativo di ripristino:

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Then I tried to reinstall it and all seems to work, but when I restarted my
system, lightdm fails to load the greeter and left me with a blank screen with
a blinkin cursor in the top left corner of the screen

I also tried a dpkg-reconfigure lightdm, no errors reported but no success.
