This bug report has become a hodgepodge.
If there are issues in particular applications, there should be
targetted bug reports.

As it's rather unhelpful to keep this bug report open I'm going to close it.

Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the
universe are pointed away from Earth?
