Good news so far in that I have seen no ill-effects from zapping
resolvconf and sysv-rc in favor of openrc.  The only gotcha I have seen
so far was I needed to upgrade the VMware Player software I had on the
machine.  Not a huge deal as I probably should have done that a while
ago.  May mean a reinstall of VMware, though.

This seems to be a red herring so can be ignored, I believe.
