Can you try with init=/lib/systemd/systemd or with systemd-sysv. Also,
is systemd-shim installed?

No. I have no idea how slim is involved here, but it's quite likely a
systemd-shim problem (see
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=757348 or
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=760281 for examples)
