browsing websites like googlemaps slows down my computer, htop indicates

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
opening googlemaps e.g.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Roundhouse/@51.501822,-0.1776486,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x48761ae583feca3d:0xda651372738f331e?hl=en
* What was the outcome of this action?
severe cut down of computer's performance
* What outcome did you expect instead?
less cpu usage, same process on other website like
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html ranges between 3-8%
