Package: lightdm
Version: 1.10.3-3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer, I'm trying to set custom language of lightdm greeter
while leaving system-wide defaults alone. Lightdm manual suggests that
it takes language from /etc/environment, so it should be possible to
override them in /var/lib/lightdm/.pam_environment. Same mechanism was
suggested on Archlinux forums: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=165381
But that does not happen. Greeter process is started with system-wide
language variables. Perhaps some debian-related mechanism is involved.
/etc/environment: empty
/etc/default/locale:
# File generated by update-locale
LANG=en_DK.UTF-8
LANGUAGE="en_DK:en"
/var/lib/lightdm/.pam_environment:
LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=ru_RU:ru
LC_TIME=en_DK.UTF-8
Expected results: greeter starts with LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8...
Actual results: greeter starts with LANG=en_DK.UTF-8...
