I think starting with (a) and moving to (b) later
would be a good way. I do want to learn how to do
Debian packages and I did a few step on my own already.

Fun thing to me the libs seemed easier because they have
fewer dependencies now that (I think to) know how sonames
work... but yes, I plan to try the Herrie package myself.
