libvorbis - non-free content?

Hi all,

I've noticed the lintian warning
"license-problem-non-free-RFC-BCP78.html" [1, 2] in our package
libvorbis with respect to the file "doc/rfc5215.txt" (and probably
"doc/rfc5215.xml", too, although lintian doesn't mention it). This is
because the IETF's RFC documents aren't generally released under a free
license. In the particular case of RFC5215, however, I've found the
following paragraph [3]:

11. Copying Conditions

The authors agree to grant third parties the irrevocable right to
copy, use, and distribute the work, with or without modification, in
any medium, without royalty, provided that, unless separate
permission is granted, redistributed modified works do not contain
misleading author, version, name of work, or endorsement information.

This makes me consider it free content anyway.

What do you think? Do you see it the same way? Should we override the
lintian error? Or should we consult with an expert on this?

Cheers,
Martin
