The linked commit[1] seems to work just fine on top of the current
0.6.5.8 package in unstable / testing (and applies cleanly, like I
said). Have been running it for a couple of days without problems. The
referenced spl pull request/commits seem to be another Linux 4.9 compat
change that is (not yet?) required in Debian's 4.8 kernel.

The whole 4.9 compat PR is slated for inclusing in 0.6.5.9 according to
[2], so it might make sense to include it as a whole.
