Zope2 maintainers,
The only application in wheezy which doesn't work with python2.7 is zope2.12.
Zope2.13 was released in 2010, but not yet packaged. The rationale for this is
that the probably most popular zope2 application plone is not yet updated for
zope2.13 (but plone itself is not available in unstable).
I would like to remove python2.6 for the wheezy release, as it is not needed for
any package but this one. Python 2.6 is not maintained anymore upstream, and
the security fixes will end in 2013 ("We intend to provide source-only security
fixes for the Python 2.6 series until October 2013 (five years after the 2.6
final release)").
Once python2.6 is not a supported python version anymore, extension modules
won't be built anymore for new uploads and binNMUs.
Would it be possible to update Zope2 to Zope2.13 for wheezy, and maybe get a
freeze exception if it cannot be done in time for the wheezy freeze? And maybe
do the same for plone, if people consider packaging it again?
thanks, Matthias
