[Po4a-devel] Preparation of the release

Hello,

I'm currently preparing a release (Martin proposed to upload it tomorrow).

The package build cleanly (no problem with make check, with the Man
testsuite, or with linda/lintian).

I've still not tagged the CVS.

I have some questions regarding some packaging stuff:

 * shall we distribute msgsearch in the (Alioth) tar ball
   (add msgsearch in the MANIFEST)
 * Can Standards-Version be bumped to 3.6.2 in debian/control
   (I don't think 3.6.2 has any consequences on po4a)
 * I think we don't need libsgmls-perl to build the Debian package:
   Shall we remove libsgmls-perl from Build-Depends-Indep?
 * Maybe we should depend on ${misc:depends}, ${perl:Depends}, ...
   (and remove "perl | perl5").
   This makes a dependency on "perl (>= 5.6.0-16)"
   (5.6.0-16 because: the installation dir for arch-indep modules changed
   to /usr/share/perl5 in this version)
 * shall we distribute msgsearch and msguntypot in
   /usr/share/doc/po4a/examples:
   add msgsearch and msguntypot to debian/examples and uncomment
   dh_installexamples in debian/rules

A patch for all those points is attached.
Martin, maybe we should discuss these points before the release (and tag).
I should be on #po4a (freenode) tomorrow.

We also need an annoucement. I propose:
==========
Nothing was released since a long time, but a lot of work was done since
the last release.

In addition to the usual set of bug fixes, this release comes with
the following new features:
 * po4a support for options in the po4a configuration files
 * TeX/LaTeX the command and environment arguments parsing was reworked,
             and permits to specify the behavior of most LaTeX commands
 * Man support for the .de, .ie or .if requests

Some of the po4a dependencies are now optional. This should help using
po4a on systems where these dependencies are not available.

You should also have a look at the msgsearch and msguntypot scripts which
use the po4a library to:
 * msgsearch extract some messages from a po file. It's a generalization
              of msggrep allowing you to use OR between different
              categories.
 * msguntypot help eradicating typo in msgstr without needlessly fuzzying
              the translations.
==========

A lot of work was done on the Sgml and Xml modules, but I don't remember
of a new feature ("just" a lot of bug fixes).

Kind Regards,
