[py3porters-devel] PEP 394 in debian? (/usr/bin/python could be python3)

Hey folks--

a lot of work has been done to make debian python3 friendly. thanks for
that!

I'm wondering whether there are any plans to encourage conversion of
/usr/bin/python to point to python3?

PEP 394 recommends that any shebang line that says /usr/bin/python
should work with both python2 and python3:

    https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0394/#recommendation

I've opened a bug against a python2-only package for it to ship with an
explicitly "python2" shebang line:

    https://bugs.debian.org/890282

Should we be doing this kind of request more widely across the archive?
are there debbugs usertags to track these suggestions? Has anyone tried
to force /usr/bin/python to point to python3 on debian?
