[Reportbug-maint] Bug#542808: Fixed

When I installed openssh server (irrelevant to the topic), apt configured
all my packages ( yes, and it took ages to complete), I got the GUI running
back. Actually, all packages depending on python-gtk were doomed. Also,
BUG#538390 still persists (Welcome screen is blank).
