it is the easiest imho and I personally prefer it when any package
related problems get reported to debian BTS so there is lower chance I
would forget fixing it

ah, cool... btw -- it  already seems to have --sign-tags option
which would be even better (to verify/guarantee authenticity of GIT
repository).

But altogether fixing that tool would not fix already existing
tags -- so you might like to take a manual action as well (i.e. retag
them), so I will just keep this report not reassigned and will open a
new one against debcommit.

that was just a hint anyways -- if you don't care, why should I? (until
I run into it again and out of my poor memory "hint" again ;) )
