Michael, it seems not many people can actually reproduce the bug. I've
tried on stretch and current sid, and reportbug works just fine for me.

Sandro has already pointed out that reportbug requires python 3.5 or
higher and won't work with python 3.4. You are the first who is seeing
the problem even with python 3.5. Can you offer more information?
