Hi resolvconf maintainers.
I have just stumbled across openresolv
http://roy.marples.name/node/343
which is claimed to be a drop-in replacement for resolvconf with
a list of advantages:
* Works with POSIX shell and userland
<http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/>
* Does not need awk, grep or sed which means we can work without
/usr mounted
* Works with other init systems than Debians' out of the box
* Available as a 2 clause BSD license
<http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html>
* Makes the distinction between domain specific name servers
Not all of these are advantages *in Debian*. Resolvconf already runs under
POSIX shell; it doesn't need anything on /usr (on a Debian system);
it's licensed under the GPL.
The last point may be significant, but the web page doesn't make clear how
the "distinction" is made.
Anyone have experience with openresolv or can anyone offer any
enlightenment?
