[Shootout-list] ANNOUNCEMENT Committers, Workflow, When will my program appear?

**************************************
We need people to join the team and spend a little time on such mundane
tasks as looking at a contributed program, figuring out if it does what
the benchmark asks, and checking it in to CVS.
**************************************

The more people involved, the less any of them actually need to do -
many hands make-light work.

Without more committers - you can expect the time between contributing
a program and seeing it appear on the website to grow to a
couple-of-weeks as more people contribute programs.

Program contributors make the Shootout a success - sharing the mundane
work will make the Shootout possible.

As you might imagine, the more time Brent and Einar and I spend
checking-in code, the less time we spend improving the Shootout
(logging program errors and results, creating appropriate benchmarks,
providing comparison webpages).

Our intention is use Alioth Tracker for program contributions instead
of the mailing-list. Then program contributors should be able to see
that there programs have at least been checked-in to CVS (moved from
Open to Pending), and committers should be able to see if there are any
new (Open) program contributions for the handful of languages they
commit to CVS.

(We'll have to workaround some dumb behaviour in Alioth Tracker. Watch
for an announcement.)
