Please try and figure-out short benchmarks - I have some confidence
that  people will understand and contribute programs that are <100
lines

(Here's the problem - are you sufficiently expert in all the languages?
Scheme? Lisp? Ruby? Smalltalk?)


And Java is a long way from being my "pet language" :-)
But there are a lot of folk who program in Java, so it's interesting to
compare other languages to Java.
