debian-cd will use the variable CDNAME which defaults to "debian":

    export CDNAME="mydisk"

but this will only change part of the filename. i don't see a variable in 
debian-cd that will change the whole filename.

look at /usr/share/debian-cd/CONF.sh for a detailed list of the debian-cd 
variables.
