Hello Matthijs,

Up until recently, Splashy was compiled statically. The recommended
way of running Splashy now is from initramfs. By default, when you
install Splashy, it will set itself up in initramfs.

All you would need to do is to edit your kernel parameters (from grub,
lilo, yaboot, or whatever your boot loader is) as it's detailed in the
README file. We are working to automate this step as well.

For some reason your system does not seem to be running Splashy from
initramfs. I recommend that you copy your /etc/default/splashy and
/etc/splashy directories and purge the package, then re-install it:

Note, if you, for some reason, do not want to run Splashy from
initramfs, then you will need to compile it statically. There is
plenty of information on the README, our wiki, and the HACKING file.
Essentially, you will need to edit configure.ac and src/Makefile.am.
