The bootsripts provided with Splashy use LSB functions to calculate steps,
print scrolling messages, and update the progress bar, among other things.

It's difficult to code around all the possible boot scripts and methods.

Note that Splashy itself does not require any scripts. This falls on the
end-user to write scripts to calculate steps and update the progress bar
according to their own distribution methods.
