Yeah I saw that too after I filed.  Makes sense to me.  If I
installed splashy, then I want boot splash screens, right?

Hrmm, but what if some of the kernels cannot support splashy
or do not have the vesa f.b. compiled?  What are the kernel
conditions or versions that splashy requires, and if those
conditions are not satisfied by a particular kernel, will it
cause boot failure under that one?
