Hi,

splashy seem to work now without any vga= or video= in cmdline when
using grub2. You just have to assure that `gfxpayload="keep"' is set
in /boot/grub/grub.cfg right after the setting of gfxmode (could be done
permanently within /etc/grub.d/00_header).

AFAIK gfxpayload loads vesafb with the last videomode which was used as
gfxmode in grub2 and any other video=<whichever_fb_driver> are silently
ignored ...
