umm... kdm is still an issue... I'll have to install kdm on a VM to
test this. I use gdm and xdm and they both work fine.

Yep. that should help. but /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh should work as
well... we will change this to the new splash API for initrc scripts.

This is because the keyboard driver for libdirectfb corrupts the X
driver. a known issue...

Yes, but we need to implement it in C in splashy since directfb does
not give a simple call to put things back the way they were.
