[Tahoe-debian] PROPOSAL: python-pycryptopp

Hi,

The python module python-pycryptopp is currently very far out of
date. It was originally uploaded by Zooko in August of 2009, and then
had some python-modules team uploads, the last one being in November of
2009.

The current listed maintainers are: Zooko O'Whielacronx, Debian Python
Modules Team. There have been requests for newer versions[0], and some
work done by Piotr back in Feburary of this year to upgrade the module
to the latest version[1].

The Tahoe-LAFS project requires a version that is newer than what is in
Debian (pycryptopp >= 0.5.20). There is a Tahoe packaging team for
Debian[2] that has recently uploaded tahoe-lafs, which is pending NEW
(in addition to uploading a newer version of python-zfec).

I would like to propose that the python-pycryptopp package move over to
the tahoe-debian team's repository and work-flow so we can keep it up to
date properly and maintain it like the other dependencies.

It doesn't appear as if anyone particularly is caring for this package,
so please do speak up if you do not like this idea or have any problems
with it.

Additionally, I'll mention that you are all welcome to join the tahoe
packaging team to help out!

micah
