Debian GNU/Linuxのポリシーです。
Debian GNU/Linuxとして守るべき方針についてまとめられたものです。
Debainパッケージの内部構成やオペレーティングシステムとして必要

ついて補足するサブポリシーマニュアル があります。
現在のdebian-policy マニュアルバージョンは 3.6.2.2 です。

メインのものはdebian-policyとして存在し、そのほかにEmacsやPerlに
関してのサブポリシーマニュアルというものが存在します。
以下にサブポリシーマニュアルの簡単な説明を書きます。

debianのシステム起動に必要なパッケージをリストにしています。
このパッケージが規定されているドキュメントは
/usr/share/build-essential/list
になります。
buiid-essential のリストは
/usr/share/doc/build-essential/essential-packages-list
に書かれており、build-essential としてパッケージに収録されています。
(アーキテクチャによって内容が異なります。）

menuシステムを使うためのポリシー。
引数を持たずに起動可能なアプリケーション(GIMPやxChatなど)はメニューを使って起動で
きるようにするべきであり、どのようなアプリケーションがどのメニュー項目に入れるべ
きであるか、書かれています。
debian-policy パッケージに収録されており、
/usr/share/doc/debian-policy/menu-policy.txt.gz
にインストールされます。

MIME( Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension RFC1521 )をサポートするためのポリシーです。
MUAやウェブブラウザでMIMEを扱えるようにできる仕組のようです。
debian-policy パッケージに収録されており、
/usr/share/doc/debian-policy/mime-policy.txt.gz
にインストールされます。

Emacs に関連するパッケージは、サブポリシードキュメントに従うことが求められています。
それをまとめたものが Emacsポリシーです。
emacsen-common パッケージに収録されており、

にインストールされます。

Java に関連するパッケージのサブポリシー。

パッケージの中で使う単語やisspellパッケージやmyspellパッケージのためのポリシー。
2003年ごろからメンテナンスされてません。

\subsection{どのようにしてポリシーが決まるのか}

\subsection{はじめに}
今回から実際にDebian Policy の中身を見ていこうと思います。
対象は Debian アーカイブについてと、バイナリファイルのポリシーについてです。
\subsection{Debianアーカイブについて}
Debian には大量(1万パッケージ以上)のパッケージがあります。
それらを管理し、フリーなオペレーティングシステムを目指しています。
このフリーという言葉はどういうものなのか、Debian ではどのように扱うのかということをガイドラインにしたものが Debian フリーソフトウェアガイドライン(以下、DFSG) です。
\subsubsection{Debian フリーソフトウェアガイドライン とは？}
Debian GNU/Linux システムのガイドラインである DFSG とはどのような内容なのか、確認してみましょう。

\item 自由な再配布
Debian システムを構成するソフトウェアのライセンスは、そのソフトウェアを複数の異
なる提供元から配布されているプログラムを集めたソフトウェアディストリビューション
の一部として、誰かが販売したり無料配布したりすることを制限してはいけません。
また、ライセンスはそのような販売に対して使用料やその他の手数料を要求してはいけません。

Debianにインストールされるソフトウェアのライセンスは自由に配布でき、無償またはお
金を取って配布することが可能なライセンスでないといけない、ということです。
ただし、ディストリビューションに含まれるプログラムのライセンスの内容に配布に対し
て料金を請求したりするものがあってはいけないということです。

この項目に合わないライセンスの一つとして aladdin フリー公衆利用許諾契約書 (Aladdin Free Public License)
があります。このライセンスは配布において手数料を取るのを禁じています。
\item ソースコード
プログラムにはソースコードが含まれていなければならず、かつ実行形式での配布に加え
てソースコードでの配布をも許可していなければなりません。

ソースコードの配布を許可してないライセンスはDebianにはインストールされることはない
ということです。

これはそのままです。
\item 派生ソフトウェア
ライセンスは、ソフトウエアの修正や派生ソフトウエアの作成を認めていなけれ
ばなりません。そして、これらをオリジナルソフトウエアのライセンスと同じ条
件の下で配布することが可能でなければなりません。

あるソフトウェアを改変し、それを配布するときも改変元と同じライセンスで配布
