[Utnubu-maintainers] Bug#429536: alacarte: Cannot add menu entries with spaces under the "Desktop" menu

Package: alacarte
Version: 0.8-5
Priority: important

After a fresh stock Debian 'etch' install (hard disk broke, don't ask) I've
tried to use Alacarte to add some entries to the menus (in the Desktop menu).
The result is really astounding, Alcarte is completely unable to add any new
item which includes a space. You can add them once, but get removed whenever
you start Alacarte again.

To reproduce this:

1- Start up Alcarte
2- Select the Desktop Menu
3- Create a new item "Test" that runs "gksudo gnome-terminal"
4- Confirm it shows up in the Desktop Menu
5- Close Alacarte
6- Start up Alacarte again
7- Confirm that "Test" doesn't show up in the Desktop Menu

For some reason this seems to work in other menus (Applications, for example)

FWIW, I haven't test this in a sid system (yet).

Regards

Javier
