I am having problems with my IDE hard disks at Debian shutdown using any 2.6.22.x kernel.
Three seconds before power off is printed the message "ata1.01 MIGHT NOT TO SPUN DOWN PROPERTY, UPDATE 
YOUR SHUTDOWN UTILITY" and also does reference to a website:

There is explained what is happening.
Shutdown utility of Debian will need to be updated soon in testing/unstable and also in stable if you 
want to do it compatible with 2.6.22 kernel releases.
