I filed a bug before that wasn't really addressed and I found a new bug so I will include the previous bug in this message as well since they're similar bugs.

Previous bug: (GNOME) System --> Preferences --> Keyboard Shortcuts then when I attempt to assign either one of my super user keys to the "Open a terminal window" shortcut. I tried this in Ubuntu 9.10 as well (which uses GNOME 2.28 like Squeeze) and it doesn't work there either. I tried on two different computers. I tested with the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 9.10 and the 64 bit version of Debian Squeeze.

New bug: In any other OS I've used, when a window is in focus and you press alt and the space bar and then press x for example you can maximize a window. Given that Ubuntu 9.10 has the same version of GNOME, I tried to see if the bug existed there as well and it didn't.

If any additional information is needed, do not hesitate to ask.
