Lempel-Ziv-Markov chain algorithm has many use, along them compressing 
the kernel for embedded device is pretty handy
It sounds like debian doesn't support this library and the associated 
headers.
I would be glad developing programs that will use lzmalib on debain 
platform if such features would be put upstream.
