Subject: base: Screen becomes one color. Sound continues.
Package: base
Justification: breaks the whole system
Severity: critical

I use Debian Unstable on a ASUS eee 1005HA.

Suddenly, while using the computer, the screen becomes one color.
I have seen black, off-white or even blue!
The error does not affect sound, like Youtube or Spotify. It keeps playing.

When the problem occurs, the only way to make it work, is to reboot the
computer.
It boots up fine every time.

The error happens several times a day. Usually while surfing the web. I use
IceWeasel.
Ubuntu did not have this bug on the same laptop.

I use Gnome. All is updated via apt-get.
