Subject: base: Network-manager no longer accepts phone for mobile broadband.
Package: base
Justification: breaks the whole system
Severity: important

I use a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone with Symbian.

I am on the road a lot, and I often connect the phone to my laptop with a
USB cable.

Network Manager in Gnome has always recognized the phone, and allowed me to
connect wirelessly to the Internet.

It works beautifully on my other laptops with Ubuntu and Fedora.
It also worked fine on this perticular laptop---for a while.
Now, it no longer shows the mobile connection in the network manager.
It still works great with WiFi networks, but not the mobile broadband.

I don't know why or when it stopped working, but this laptop is now useless
for surfing on the bus.
I always keep my system up-to-date using nothing but the official
repositories. Maybe an upgrade installed a newer version which has a bug in
it?
I did not mess with any config files, as I am aware of.

My laptop is a ASUS eee 1005HA.
The phone works fine on my other laptops.
