[Virtual-pkg-base-maintainers] Bug#575971: Display frequency "Out-of-Range" during boot
lands at inav.net

Wed Mar 31 00:16:01 UTC 2010
Package: base (Distribution Lenny)
Version: Debian 5.0 x86
version: Debian 5.0 AMD64
I installed a new mother-board, the ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO,
with the AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor (Quad core, 2.6
GHz) with 4 GB of RAM
My display is a Princeton SENergy 560.
Boot went OK until it got to the point that it would enter
the X system. The display then went black, and a display
window popped up which said:
OUT-OF-RANGE
Hf: 30KHz - 70KHz
Vf: 50Hz - 90Hz
Current Frequency:
90.3KHz, 60.0Hz
I then downloaded the Mini iso file for the AMD64 version
of Lenny and installed the system. The same thing
happened with this version.
Each of the steps required changing mother boards, for a
total of at least 6 times!
I then downloaded a mini-iso of SUSE, and installed it.
Boot occurred into X with no problems.
I cannot give any detail version numbers because I CANNOT
BOOT Debian unless I change mother boards, and I might
also have to change the GRUB configuration - I'm not sure
about this.
Please fix this so I will be able to again use Debian!
