Hi, Holger. Danke sehr für die Antwort. I do have more than 1 disk. Are you going to suggest installing Debian again on a different disk? I guess that's a possibility.
I made a change in the BIOS that I don't expect to do any good (the computer will wait 5 seconds now before detecting the hard disks). I don't think that will help, because the main disk must be working for it to go through the GRUB process.
Ha. I started up 7 times with no problem, but on the 8th try, it froze. A photo is attached. When the "S" appears I'm pretty sure it's above the word "ELF".
Well, I appreciate if you have any ideas. Bye for now.
