Package: base
Severity: important

Hi guys.

I did install Debian 6.0.2 in July on my laptop DELL Latitude E6400. I found
out that when making "Safely Remove Drive" with my USB BUFFALO HD (500GB),
Gnome crashes completely (black screen, keypad not working anymore: I tried
CTRL+ALT+F1..F6 to get a terminal but no way). I found no problem using other
USB devices. The issue was only with the USB BUFFALO HD.
Then, I did format my laptop and install DEBIAN 6.0. Everything was absolutely
fine. The issue went away. For more than 2 months I used the BUFFALO HD without
any issue at all.
Last week, I wanted to try again DEBIAN 6.0.2, then I upgraded the operating
system installing 6.0.2 packages by Internet. And, as a nightmare, the issue
with the BUFFALO HD is back: I had 2 crashes of 3 times I made "Safely Remove
Drive". All other USB devices work well.

>From my point of view, this is really an issue introduced with the 6.0.2
packages.

I have attached a few system logs when the issue happened.

Thanks and regards,
Francesco
