Package: base
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
wifi powersave doesn't work on debian jessie. im using intel wireless 5300
(iwlwifi), but i don't know whether it is related to this specific hardware.
the command "iwconfig wlan0 power on" works and iwconfig is reporting an
enabled powersave mode with "Power Management:on".
BUT: power consumption and heat emission are the same. so it only shows that
powersave mode is working but on hardware level it isn't.
i'm using a thinkpad x301 with smapi interface for meassuring power
consumption.
typical power consumption are:
wheezy:
wifi powersave off: 7,3W
wifi powersave on: 6,5W
iwlwifi module removed: 6,5W
jessie:
wifi powersave off: 7,1W
wifi powersave on: 7,1W
iwlwifi module removed: 6,3W
(meassurments taken over 5 min in idle with error +-0,1W)
