Package: vmware-package
Version: 0.22
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.3

Hi!

I've just read the debian/copyright file of vmware-package.
It states, in part:

| This package may contain non-distributable files copyrighted by
| VMware, Inc.
| Such files may be subject to the proprietary VMware EULA.

Huh?!?
This package may include undistributable files, yet the Debian
Project is distributing them anyway?!?

Does the Debian Project has some special permission to distribute
those files?
If this is the case, then it should be clarified in the debian/copyright
file; moreover, the package should be moved to non-free, since a
Debian-specific permission to distribute fails DFSG#8 and contrib
packages must comply with the DFSG (Policy 2.2.2).

If, on the other hand, no special permission was granted to the
Debian Project to distribute those files, then I think the
Debian Project should stop distributing them immediately,
since continuing to do so seems to be a copyright violation!

If the situation is different from the above two cases, then I
think it's definitely unclear: please explain.

Thanks in advance.
