[Build-common-hackers] building two binary packages from the same source?

Hi,

I am trying to prepare a patch to solve #249157, filed against the
audacity package. Audacity uses cdbs for building, and can be compiled
with and without ALSA support. Both variants have different issues, so
it would be good to have an audacity, and an audacity-alsa package in
Debian.

So, it is necessary to configure the package twice, and build it
twice, with different configure parameters.

Does cdbs have infrastructure for that? How would a minimally invasive
approach look like?

Greetings
Marc
