What I meanwhile found out:

 - How I invoke sbuild, it does _not_  fetch build dependencies.
   (I expect it would do that ( now not sure if I'm spending time
    on the right tool))

 - What somehow works is
     apt-get source hello
     cd hello[TAB]
     sbuild

With that I can check my  sbuild chroot setup.
