ah-ha... okay, so you're setting it to the same package name, and when
the purge stuff happens for the frontend, it removes the debconf stuff
and the dbc config file for the package.

i don't know that there's a way around this while sharing the same
package name, probably the only fix you can do between now and etch
is to use a different package name and maybe conditionally source
the main package's file in the config script if  it exists before
calling dbc_go.

however, this is a pretty common scenario i'm guessing so it's
worth opening a bug on it so that later when i have some more
of that free time stuff i can add in support for such a thing.
care to do so?
