have the same trouble with my eee 900, and made more or less the sames
things that you describes here trying to fix it, with the same
results, still no working.

i am thinking to try the ath5k driver:
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/HowTo/UseLastAtherosModule, but
dont know if it would work.

any one here using ath5k?
