[Debian-eeepc-devel] PC speaker beeps

Dear All,

Do "pc speaker" sounds work for anyone?  i.e. if you echo $'\a' at a 
console [i.e. ctrl-alt-f1], do you hear a beep?  I seem to have a pc 
speaker device in /sys/bus/platform/devices/pcspkr, but I have not been 
able to persuade it to make a noise.  It doesn't seem to appear in 
alsamixer; should it?
