Sorry, I was confused about that. I read *something* that said that if 
sensors-detect (not pwmconfig) didn't find drivers then there was no 
point in trying fancontrol. pwmconfig does work.

Thank you. I will try those.

I'm going to try installing 'sensord' too, to see what actually happens 
on my EEE PC, it is a 701 4G, but after looking at its documentation I 
see I'll have to stop and think a bit...
